Why my son rocks... Part 3 of 472,984

I slapped this last one on with a quickness after I chopped all my nails off. They were getting long enough to peel on the sides, and when that happens, my index and middle fingernails grow oddly. It's hard to describe. So, off with them!

This is the last Rimmel 60 Second Vinyl Shine polish I have. It's called Star Dust, and is a really beautiful gold that has silver and red glitter in it as well. The red is pretty obvious, and I tried to get a good macro shot, but it just wasn't happening. This is just one coat.

Why my son rocks... Part 2 of 472,984

This is the second polish my son got for me. It's called Wishing on a Star, and is a salmon pink with silver and red glitter. I used Hard as Wraps for a base coat this time, 2 coats of color, and Poshe. Wear was decent. I think it may have been better if I did just use 1 coat as the polish is pretty thick. I liked this shade much more than I thought I would. There was no VNL in real life, just in the picture.

I probably won't share with you all of the 472,984 reasons my child is awesome, but I will show you at least 3 reasons. :)

Some friends of ours have him house sit/dog sit for them when they go out of town, and he makes pretty decent bank doing so. They went to visit family last weekend, so he went to their house 3 or 4 times a day to let the dog out, feed her, etc.

He came home after getting up earlier than usual on Saturday morning and said, "Hey, I stopped at a garage sale on the way home and got you something. I hope you like them." And out of his pocket he pulls 3 bottles of nail polish! How many 16 year-old boys would do that? I'm not that obvious with my polish obsession around the house, so he's noticed and thought of me when he's got cash burning a hole in his pocket. It's okay guys, you can say, "Awww!" now.

They are Rimmel 60 Seconds Vinyl Stars Polish. Claims to be a one-coater that dries in 60 seconds. This one is called Movie Star. It's a dark pink with fairly chunky silver and gold glitter. This was only 1 coat and I got pretty good coverage. I was excited to try them, so didn't use a base coat either. I started to get chips after just a day or so. The brush was very soft, long, and pretty full. I really liked it a lot. It held enough polish to easily cover a nail without having to dip in to the bottle again.

I think he did a great job!

Rimmel Marine Blue

Yikes! It's been ages, and my only excuse is that I've been lazy about blogging. I'm still polishing like a mad woman, and still taking crappy iPhone pictures, just not putting forth the effort to post. So I'll be working through my backlog for the next few days. :)

First up is Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Marine Blue. This is a really beautiful teal, turquoise, shimmery color. The formula was perfect. If I were careful, I've could've gotten it in one coat, but, alas... The brush was very wide and curved. I've read on other blogs that it is like one of the old Sally Hansen brushes, but that was before my time as far as polish goes. It covers my nails perfectly, but I can see where it could be troublesome for someone with narrow nails.

The bottle claims wear up to 10 days, and I can see that happening for someone who is gentler on their nails than I am. This pic was after 3 days, and there is just some minor tip wear.

All Hail The Queen wear & Rimmel Burgundy Flirt

There's been a little lack of blogging, huh? The reason? All Hail The Queen has been lasting for ages! This (horrible) pic is right before I took it off after 6 days of wear. A few small chips, serious growth, and need of lotion & cuticle cream. :) I think a big contributor to the great wear is Hard As Wraps. 6 days is unheard of for me. Think I've found a new basecoat...

I went to Walgreen's yesterday and got some great deals. Plain old Wet n' Wild is $0.69, so I picked up 2 bottles of clear in case I want to try frankening. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear was 2/$4, so I got Wet Cement and a glittery red. I also had a $1 off coupon for Rimmel, and chose Burgundy Flirt. I'm finding it harder to remember where the holes in my collection are. I don't think Burgundy Flirt filled any, but it is pretty.

Formula was decent. These polishes have a very wide, curved brush. The name of it escapes me. The other 2 I've got work really well, but this one is rather wonky. It ended up looking okay though. This is 2 coats over Hard as Wraps and under Poshe. There was some balding, but I think I should've waited a little longer between coats.

Next up will be my new Zoyas from the BOGO sale.
