Illamasqua Throb

This is my Vegas souvenir and I love it! I threw 2 coats on in the hallway before my meeting this morning (sans base or topcoat) and it looks great. Forgive the yellow tone of the photo. Stupid high pressure sodium lights!
The color is a great, cool toned red creme. It's a deep red that isn't overly bright. Very sophisticated.
The big, square top pulls off to reveal a short, marrow, tapered cap. I am not a fan, so I left the top on. The stem is long, so be aware of polish running down that on to the brush. The brush is narrow, but thick and flexible. I like it a lot. The formula was also very nice. I had opacity in 1 coat, but used 2 thin coats.
All in all, a very big win. Thinking about the next one I want...

I can't resist...

I'm in Vegas for a conference and couldn't resist posing with this guy. Or posting it. Fun times. :)

Zoya Bela

Hello guys! Trying this mobile posting thing since I'm going to be away from my lappy for a few days. (sob!)
I'll be at a nurse practitioner conference, so I figured I'd take off the glitter and go for something more subdued. I got Zoya Bela in the mail yesterday with Charla and Ivanka, so it worked out perfectly.
This is 3 coats. I love it hard! Very delicate, shiny, and wonderful. A nice palate cleanser. Behold! Another iPhone pic from my work bathroom! I can't help it if it gives the most accurate color representation.

$OPI Glee collection - Gleek Out & Express Yourself to Yourself

Hello guys! I haven't disappeared, but have been blessed with excellent wearing polish and the restraint to avoid buying new polishes. Miss Bossy Pants wears like a champ, as does Gleek Out.

Gleek Out is a light green and gold microglitter/foil polish. I wasn't able to capture it, but this looks like a cool tones gold at some angles. It dries quickly and is very smooth, but I still threw a coat of Poshe on, because that's how I roll. I used 3 coats, and while there is still quite a bit of VNL, the shininess detracts from it. Application was a challenge, but I think that's just because of the crappy brush that comes with the mini sets.

Please do not embiggen this pic. My cuticles are in horrid shape!

I have Express Yourself to Yourself (cue big eyeroll at the name) on my toes. I know some people (looking at you, bestie!) are really squicked out by toes, so I'll put in a jump. Click if you want to see it. :) This one was very hard to photograph. it's much, much brighter in real life. In my opinion, a true coral. Very bright and summery.

And, pics of my piggies after the jump!

$OPI Glee collection - Miss Bossy Pants

For someone who's typically NOT a fan of pink in all it's forms, I'm sure loving the hell out of pink polishes this spring/summer. I blame Areej. She was the first pink I had feelings for. :)

Miss Bossy Pants is great. It's a bright, magenta/berry (fitting for having been inspired by Rachel Berry) with a very fine lighter pink shimmer. It smoothes over the nail beautifully and it totally opaque in 2 coats. What's not to love?

$OPI Glee collection - Slushied + +

Bestie came into town last weekend and happened to bring my much belated (but that's how we roll) birthday gift. Because she knows me so well it's scary, she did SUCH a fabulous job. I got the $OPI Glee collection mini set, OPI Black Shatter, Glee season 1 (The Gleek Edition, natch), and an absolutely gorgeous ball of MadelineTosh Worsted yarn in Duchess, which is a super pretty dark eggplant color. She rocks too hard for me to describe.

So, on to the first polish I tried... Slushied. This one was inspired by Finn Hudson, and is a bright blue creme. Fabulous formula that was opaque with two coats. I got so many compliments on this color, and it's so damn bright and happy, one can't help but be happy when wearing it. Anti-depressants on my nails. :) It was also a featured color in the People Magazine Style Watch section a couple of weeks ago. I've never felt so fashionable. (Sorry for the messy mani, I had to take a pic as soon as I was done.)

But I couldn't just leave it alone with all those other goodies in my bag! After 2 days, I decided to throw Celibacy Club over it. Near impossible to capture accurately on film, but it is a silver holo glitter in a clear base. Below is 2 coats. Dry time was minimal, so I didn't need to use a topcoat at all. Plus, I knew I would be doing something else to this mani and didn't want 14 layers of laquer.

Behold, the addition of OPI Black Shatter! This stuff is awesome! Below is a thinn-ish coat. I've heard thinner coats have finer shatter than thick, and I wanted the sparkle of Celibacy Club to show through. I think it looks great. Nearly every patient I had while wearing this commented on it. I've even got co-workers checking out my nails. Also, notice the fabulous wear. The first coat of Slushied had been on for 4 days at this point. And we are at 8 layers of polish at this point.

I can't wait to try the others in the mini set. I'm thinking Miss Bossy Pants will be next. It's a bright, pearly berry inspired by the very bossy Rachel Berry. Love it!

Are any of you Gleeks? What did you think of the Season Finale? I was a little disappointed in it, but that's okay. Kurt and Rachel doing Wicked on the Wicked stage made it worth waiting for.

Why my son rocks... Part 3 of 472,984

I slapped this last one on with a quickness after I chopped all my nails off. They were getting long enough to peel on the sides, and when that happens, my index and middle fingernails grow oddly. It's hard to describe. So, off with them!

This is the last Rimmel 60 Second Vinyl Shine polish I have. It's called Star Dust, and is a really beautiful gold that has silver and red glitter in it as well. The red is pretty obvious, and I tried to get a good macro shot, but it just wasn't happening. This is just one coat.

And this is Christopher and I being silly with the iPhone.
